Soft Pretzels BigOven - Save recipe or add to grocery list Yum
I use sesame seed or leave them plain sometimes and drizzle icing or something over them. These are versatile and very yummy! A great after school snack for the kids, or for the guys night out around the poker table with a cold beer!

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425° F. Grease two large baking sheets.
  2. Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large mixing bowl. Stir until dissolved. Stir in sugar and salt until dissolved. Gradually stir in 3 1/2 Cups flour until a stiff dough forms.
  3. Turn dough onto well floured board and knead until smooth, about 5-7 minutes, adding another 1/2 Cup flour if necessary.
  4. Divide dough into 12 equal parts; let dough rest for 5-10 minutes. Roll each piece into a fifteen inch long rope. Shape into a pretzel sealing at the ends.
  5. Place pretzels on baking sheets. Beat egg in a bowl and beat in 2 Tablespoons of water. Bruch on pretzels and sprinkle with sesame seeds or coarse salt.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden. Serve warm or cold
